“Hold On” by Alabama Shakes

Sometimes you can feel weak in your recovery. Feel like your overwhelmed and don’t think you can make it. That’s why they say, “One day at a time.” Don’t worry about tomorrow; stay focused on today. Don’t look at the long term time frame; keep it short. Make it through the day, and you will be okay. You have to ‘hold on‘ because not every day is sunshine and roses. You will come across cloudy days and tough times but when you do ‘hold on.’ It’s like a roller coaster ride, you’re going to have your ups and your going to have your downs, but in the end, you arrive safely. So don’t give up, ‘hold on.’

Have patience in your recovery, it does get a little easy over time, but don’t let the hard moments set you back. This is one of my favorite songs to remind me of that. When I do feel down and out, I will play this song, and it gives me the motivation to ‘hold on.’ Just because I’m having a bad day doesn’t mean I have to throw it all away, I ‘hold on.’ I will even go to bed early that night so that I can get a good night’s rest and try again tomorrow. “New day, fresh start,” I like to say. And night time is when we can have more of a chance to break, I think and make a phone call we don’t like, end up going to the bar or doing something we will regret in the morning. So please, when life gets you down, ‘hold on.’ There’s always another day, and there will be better days ahead of you, you can make it through just ‘hold on.’

Be Patience, Be Strong, HOLD ON!
